The Camps

Nature Camp ^

Youths 5 (and entering first grade)-9 years
Since 1976, Cayuga Nature Center has offered a form of Nature Camp that provides outdoor programs and experiences that have allowed campers to build self-esteem, strengthen values, and develop lifelong skills.
Campers begin each day with a morning gathering where the secret theme is revealed! Activities on each day include two structured lessons, a craft, two snacks, cooperative games, and plenty of time outdoors discovering the natural world. Campers will also enjoy swimming at Taughannock Park three times a week.
Our staff doesn’t just teach crafts and lead hikes in the woods. Our staff teaches character values and life skills through these programs. Honesty, Caring, Responsibility, & Respect are present in everything we do.
Sign-up for one week or all seven and learn something new every day!

BOBCATS ^

Counselor in Training
(for Youths 13-16 years of age) Contact: Jessamyn Perlus, Senior Bobcat
The goal of the Bobcat Counselor-in-Training Program is to teach teenagers how to work with counselors and staff while providing fun and educational programs for campers.
New C.I.T.s will shadow a camp counselor, assisting in set up and cleanup of all activities, preparing snacks, and assisting in the daily lessons. They will be asked to research a subject of their choice and give a presentation during camp. Returning Bobcats will be given additional responsibilities. This program runs in conjunction with all Nature Camp sessions.
Interested youths should submit their resume and application (samples located at our website) and schedule an interview with the Assistant Camp Director and/or Senior Bobcat.
Commitment to at least two full weeks is required for first years, and three for returning Bobcats. This is a great addition to your future resumes and fulfills community service hours. Training takes place the last week of June.
