Internship Outline of Expectations

Cayuga Nature Center (CNC), in coordination with the intern's school, will arrange internships for 12-30 weeks based on the program requirements. The overall internship, including evaluations, will be supervised by Ali Higgins with additional supervision by departmental staff.

All students who wish to pursue an internship at CNC need to submit a complete resume and cover letter stating the intended department they wish to work and the length and start date of the internship. If the school provides written internship criteria, this should be submitted as well.

Training and Instruction:

All interns will receive training and instruction in the following areas with the majority of their time spent on the area of their choice:

Responsibility for a major project:

Interns will be primarily responsible for one major project; this may be chosen from the list below or designed by the student:

Professionalism:

Interns will be treated at a professional level at CNC and are expected to adhere to all CNC employee rules and regulations to be outlined at the start of the internship. Interns at CNC are required to make their own housing and transportation arrangements. No additional stipends or reimbursements without prior approval by the staff supervisor are offered or implied. Some interns may be hired part-time at the end of their internship.
